Why SLI connector, but no support?

I've always wondered why manufacturers have an SLI connector, but no support for it. Why don't they just not have an SLI bridge?

actually, yes, only certain models support sli, to save cost, boards are designed similarly (when applicable). THis is the same with other parts as well (psu, mobo, etc) they just don't put other parts if it's not applicable.

besides, it won't be much help to have sli on low end models, they would still be slow. and its another feature for those who pay for them
