Specifics on how AMD A-series APU + discrete GPU function for Dual Graphics Combination?

While I'm quite proud that I just put together my first PC from scratch (intended to be more of a HTPC), I'm already looking to upgrade. My abilities and knowledge are still very limited.

I've been looking into adding in a discrete GPU to "enhance" the integrated GPU from my AMD A6-6400K. Discrete GPUs that I can use, according to the APU box, include AMD Radeon HD 6450 and Radeon HD 6570. Adding either of these discrete GPUs is supposed to enhance the graphics of the integrated GPU without turning it off.

I found this: http://www.asipartner.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=lqo9f1mSMbI%3D&tab..
Otherwise, there's nothing that answers my other questions definitively.

1) Does my motherboard's "CrossFire" capability (or lack thereof as is the case) affect this in any way considering I'm not trying to use two discrete GPUs?

2) Are there any particular specs (including brand) I need to look for in the discrete GPU, or will any of them work so long as they're Radeon HD 6450 or 6570?

3) Is this "plug and play," or do I need to adjust setting somewhere in order to pair the integrated and discrete GPUs?

Thanks!

Solution
1) CrossFire won't affect this capability.
2)No, any of them will work as long as they are those two gpus
3)No, you need to go into the amd control panel and manually enable it.

But I highly highly highly do NOT recommend doing dual graphics, it will improve fps but the latency will be through the roof so it won't be a good experience.

And a HD 6670 is old, a r7 260X or GTX 750 would be faster than hd 6670 and igpu combined.

Thanks for the information. As I said before, my knowledge is rather limited, though I'm trying to learn. When (or under what applications) would I notice the increased latency? Again, this machine is more "HTPC" with no intent to game on it.

When I originally bought the components, I neglected to buy a motherboard with a built-in HDMI connection. I thought I was looking at two options to remedy this... 1) buy another mobo altogether (more expensive option), or 2) buy one of the GPUs above to give me the HDMI I want AND increased video quality (cheaper option).

Realistically, the mobo I'd consider buying is only about $20 more than the discrete GPU, but the cheaper GPU/increased graphics seemed win-win.

What are your thoughts on this?
