I Live at Philippines, but i'll just base on us dollars, since I may buy a few second hand parts here.
My curret rig iscomposed of:
AMD 450 X4 @3.2GHZ
GT430
KINGSTON 4GB ram
Motherboard asus m5a(i forgot the middle) mlx (it has pcie2.0)
Coolermaster (i dont know the watts, but my friend said its low end, about 100 watts)

I bought gtx palit 650ti 2gb, and I reaaly enjoyed bf3 and ghost recon and other heavy games first person shooter. Howecver, it broke. My monitor just blacked out. Hdmi not working, but the cpu is working. No display at all. Plus my girlfriend destroyed its fan therefore nullifying its warranty. My friend said it may be due to the power supply. Do you think so?

Anyway, my budget is $450.00.

PCU

My friend said i need to buy i5 core because amd cpus get hot easily. I'm asking him if what motherboard i need, but he doesnt answer. Honestly, i have 2/10 knowledge on mobos and cpus, 6/10 knowledge on gpu. I have ZERO what are those haswell stuffs, those mb cache, those socket am+3 lg55 cpu sockets. Can you please enlighten me in a noob's way (not in a hardcore way) what are those, while you suggest me pc parts?

GPU

About the gpu... i was thinking of r9 270x, gtx 750 ti, gtx 760 ti, any cheap brands like palit. I am satisfied with the performance of the palit 650 ti, but is there a cheaper equivalent of gtx 650 ti to amd? My friend told me to buyr9 270x... is 270x much more powerful than 650 ti??

Motherboard

Mobos. msi are pricey, do u think i need gigabytes? Or Asus? I need pcie 3.0 at least one... hdmi. Intel 3rd or 4th gen socket.. I can live without 5.1 surround sound socket. And just one usb 3.0. Ddr3 ram. A mobo that enables overclocking of intel.

RAM

Ram... my friend said 4gb is enough. Kingston is cheap. I thought i could reuse my 4gb ram but my curret ram is ddr2. I need ddr3. How about vengeance

PSU

Psu.. i dont remember what my friend said about a psu brand. I said i need 1000 watts of psu, but he said it would be overkill. 600 watts might be enough do you think? And what brand??

Game preferences..
First shooter games, cod bf3 and medal of honor.. i dont care about 60 70 fps, i need a decent fps where i can just play bf4 in medium settings and that i dont see any lag, i dont care about anti aliasing. I just want to have a performance a few or slightly better than 650ti.. i wanna play bf4 and cod ghost, i could play medium settings, and the resolution is 1366x768 if im not mistaken...
Thir person shooter,, ghost recon

I also wanna play plants vs zombies, minesweeper and spider solitaire without lags..

Thank you. Its ok if you answer only in one 9aragraph, but i want u to know that i appreciate detailed posts. Thank u very much. :)

For games, the number of threads is largely irrelevant, more important for gaming than the number of cores and threads is the clock rate. Aside from the clock rate, the next-most important CPU features for PC game performance are L2 and L3 cache size. Faster than RAM, the more cache available, the more data that can be stored for lightning-fast retrieval.

Hyperthreading it's irrelevant when playing games. Hyperthreading allows you to do several things at once, and it's more used for programs like CAD software or video editing.

I'd go for the FX 6300 and get at least 8gb memory 2x4Gb kit

Or if you prefer Intel, I wouldn't go lower than i5-3570 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80637i53570

Motherboard Asus P8Z77-V LX...

Well, will start with the PSU. You need a minimum 500w PSU to run for example r9 270x (which is much better than gtx 650 ti btw) . There is no point to get a pricey i5 when you can get the amd FX 6300 at almost same performance and less money. I'd recommend you an ASUS motherboard, has a lot of features, and RMA service is really good. And go for at least 8Gb of memory, 2x4 sticks.

I'm still unemployed. But i want to invest in a core i5 3rd gen. I'll sell my 270x and upgrade to whatever gpu that deserves the i5. Could you please tell me an exact model of a budget i5 3rd gen that can run BF4 at least on mid settings? Thank you.

My friend told me FSP brand psu.
I like AMD cpu because it's cheap. But my friend told me that AMD cpus quickly get hot than Intel ones. Also FX 6300 got less benchmark vs i5 2500 2nd gen here: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-2500-vs-AMD-FX-6300

I'd like to invest on a budget i5 3rd gen. The one with hyperthreading if there is... Could you tell me a model? And a compatible asus mobo?

As for ram, yeah i could get 4gb first. I'll prioritize on the processor.

Thank you.

The 3258 is more than enough for what you need, with my build, you can run bf4 on high setting at 1080p at atleast 45 fps.
Remember, the 3258 overcocks, its not a regular pentium.

If you want an i5 plus a good gpu, you will be paying 200 usd and 300-400 usd for the cpu and gpu respectively.

Also buying old gen i5s is not worth it at all, the 3258 has better single core performence and will have higher frames in most games.

It's hard to find Pentium 3258 in my country. How about this one: Intel Core i5 4670k. What gen is that? And what ASUS motherboard do I need to be compatible with it?

Yeah, I decided I'll buy GPU and PSU first and save for several months for new CPU. I'm thinking of Sapphire R9 280 (less than 250 USD in our place). But my current MOBO is pcie 2.0 only. adn PSU is cooler master less than 200 watts. It's ok if it's pcie 2.0. Because BF 3 and Ghost Recon ran well when I used my GTX 650 ti 2gb ram. I'll be buying 600 watts fsp psu because my GTX 650 broke may be due to my cuurent low watts PSU.

But i5 2500 got higher benchmark than my AMD athlon 2 x3 450.

I'll be needing hyperthreading to run CAD 2014. My AMD athlon 2 x3 450 loads slow in startup, but fast in commands. Also, when I open several Mozilla browsers and opened MKV player, my PC severely lags, about 5-10 seconds before MKV player opens.

What are L2 and L3 cache?

Also, RAM do you recommend? The model?

This one: Intel Core i5 4670k... I'll buy that after several months after I buy GPU and PSU. I'll prioritze the latter two. It's ok if my processor is AMD 450..

Can't find it in Philippines. Perhaps other model? Still Asus brand.

Ok than go for i5-4670k and get a z87 asus board like Asus Z87-A https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-z87a
Memory - Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 or 16Gb (2 x 8Gb) https://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-cml8gx3m2a1600c9

If you can't find the above parts in Philippines just get something similar for motherboard ASUS z87, for memory make sure you buy a kit of two stiks 4 or 8Gb, dual channel is much faster than one

I searched for that asus in our place.. It seems that msi z87 g45 is like 3.00 USD cheaper than the asus z87 a. Is that msi good enough? I dont think I need the best at perfornance, i am satisfied with only decent or good performance.. I also need after sales service... WHich brand has better service if the motherboard broke... Or ehich has bettet in terms of warranty service

Wait, if I bought AMD fx 8350, will it be the same as the i5 you recommended? In terms of lag-free environment.. If i open several mozilla tabs and km player and autocad at once. Just asking.

Thanks very much

I'd go with ASUS they have a good RMA and Client Support service, also the board comes with lots of features like AI Suite 3, Fan Xpert 2, USB 3.0 Boost...

I'd prefer AMD 8350, but the intel has higher heat tolerance. In my place, its always hot and i cant risk it. I dont know how to safely put that paste stuff between the processor and the heatsink. I've studied how to assemble a rig at school, but not the paste stuff on the processor.

My motherboard is asus m5a78l-m lx. Do you think I could play BF 4 at medium settings decently using that motherboard, but the gpu is a new R9 280x and fsp 600 watts? I decided to allocate my current 350 usd to gpu and psu combined. Of crse i understand that my mobo is only pcie 2.0, its ok. My question is, will my gpu be ok? Because last time my gtx 650 ti broke somehow and produced a Zero display.. Nothing at dvi nor hdmi.. What do u think happened? I didnt smell any burn.

Ok, last question... Are games considered single threaded programs? And of you open multiple apps, is it considered multi threaded?
