Hey so I'm currently in need of a decent headset. Preferably one with programmable buttons like on the G930/G35. Having wires is not an issue. Detachable mic is a plus. And I want it so I can also play songs from my phone, but primarily for PC gamingd.
Thanks in advance!

In order to play music from your phone to the headset, it will need to use 3.5mm connectors like headphones do. This means that they won't have any controls with the exception of volume control and muting in some cases. This will limit your options.

I always recommend a Sennheiser headset before anything if they can afford it. Since you haven't mentioned you price range, I'm just going to throw it out there. A mobile can power the PC360's (G4ME ONE) well enough, but it won't be able to power the PC350's (G4ME ZERO). I haven't looked too much into their lower end headsets, but I'm pretty sure that they have an impedence of 32ohms, so your phone would be able to power them just fine.

The Logitech G430's have 3.5mm connectors and comes with a USB sound card that you plug into the computer. A friend of mine got his about a month ago and he is happy with them. He listens to music on his phone occasionally with them, but primarily plays PC games and Skypes with them.

If memory serves me well, I believe Corsair makes both a USB and 3.5mm version of the Vengeance 1500's. I haven't personally used these, but have heard pretty good things about them.

Keep in mind, these are the headsets and brands that I am most familiar with, so I'm sure there are better options out there. None of these have removable microphones or retractable microphones.

The only thing that I want to say regarding other brands is stay away from Razer. Some people will swear by them, but every Razer headset I have used (luckily none of them were mine) either sounded terrible, felt extremely cheap, didn't work, or barely worked.

agreed... you need to provide a budget. you also need to let us know what kind of sound profile you enjoy and if you prefer open or closed designs.

the sennheiser pc360 is certainly a decent pair of headphones and agreed will work fine on your pc and mobile. the pc350 is also a good set but to have it work better on mobile you may want a portable amplifier. the fiio e06k for $30 would work fine to allow you to use heftier headphones/headsets with your mobile.

also of note... you could go with a good pair of headphones and gt a modmic or moovmic to mount on the side. this would give you a few more options.

depending on your personal taste and budget there are the sennheiser hd558 and hd598, beyerdynamic dt990pro as well as the audiotechnica ad700x and ad900x to think about. all are excellent "gaming headphones" with open designs. if you prefer closed and bassy sound then you might like the dt770pro but its small soundstage isnt often recommended for gaming unless the user wants a closed design.

some will work fine without an amp on mobile, some require an amp of sorts. to get virtual surround on pc your onboard would need to support virtual or you can get a cheap $28 soundcard (xonar dg) to gain this ability and/or power the heftier headphones. or, if onboard powers them fine you can give razer surround sound software a try as it is free and is software based.

PRICE ISNT AN ISSUE. JUST WANT THE BEST FOR A DECENT COST. Also I need a mic on it. That's a requirement. Over the ears and surround sound. Closed design is preferable.

While, again, Sennheiser will beat just about every other headset is sound quality, it sounds like the G430's might work for you.

They offer a closed design, have a mic (although it isn't the best sounding), they sound good for the price, the software offers virtual 7.1 surround sound, and you can still plug into your phone using the 3.5mm connector.
