I say it really depends on what you're doing. If you're gaming, then it really depends on the games as well.

Yep, a fx6300 and a cheap motherboard are less than $155, and it will do very well with that 270X

Buying a cheap motherboard is very, very counterproductive. A hot running cpu like a 6300 needs a quality board not to throttle under heavy load.
