I'm going to build a new gaming PC soon, and I was looking for some help. I'm giving myself a budget of $700.

The only part of the build I'm certain of right now is the GTX 760 (EVGA), though I have thrown together a full build at pcpartpicker. Here it is:

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/DMB06/saved/VyTrxr

CPU - AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core - $109.99
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ATX AM3+ - $84.99
Memory - Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 - $83.99
Video Card - EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB - $244.50
Case - Cooler Master N400 ATX Mid Tower - $59.99
Power Supply - SeaSonic 620W ATX12V / EPS12V - $89.99
Optical Drive - Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer - $22.10

All prices are from Amazon, it totals $695. These are the only components I need (unless I can keep my MOBO, I started a thread on that in the MB section), I have the monitor, OS, etc. If you were doing a build on a 700 budget, what would you come up with? Answers will be greatly appreciated, I like learning the logic behind why certain components are better than others.

Btw, I currently have an AMD phenom II 965 black edition (x4) processor, please offer your opinion on whether or not it would be wise to keep this processor and use the savings elsewhere.

I actually don't need storage, I'm just going to transfer my current drive over and get an SSD later on, so your build would actually come in under budget which is great. I've always been an AMD guy, is the i5 significantly better than a six core AMD? Also, is the change in manufacturer from EVGA to Zotac for the GPU strictly about price, or is that a better manufacturer in your opinion? I've had multiple EVGA cards and have had no issues, that's why I chose them again with this build, but if there are better options I'm definitely all ears.

Alright that's great below budget. Yes, EVGA is better manufacturer, went with Zotac to fit budget.

$6 above. Went with an ASUS GPU.

So in your opinion an i5 quad core is much better than an AMD six core? I don't know much about the comparisons between the two, but for double the price I'd hope it was significantly better and worth the extra cost.
