Hi.
I have recently tried to update my computer hardware. I bought a used MSI z87 45G Gaming motherboard, i got 4GB DDR3 1333mhz ram with that. I then bought a i5-4690k CPU. I have an ATI Radeon HD5870. I still need to update my graphics and ram, but the money are short right now.

I have connected everything, but i get no picture. I have checked and double checked, everything is conncted. I have tested the motherboard with an older CPU i5-4670, with that everything turns on. When i had it started i updated the BIOS to the newest version, because i found out that the CPU wasent suported with the old BIOS. But when i put the new CPU (i5-4690k) back in, i still didnt get picture.

Can it be anything else but a broken CPU?

Than I'd suggest to replace the chip, if it's still under warranty you shouldn't have any problems. Look underneath the CPU see if it has any bent pins

Im not sure what you mean, The motherboard is a Z87. On MSI's website it says that i need to update the Bios to use the CPU. And i have done that.

I mean, that the pins are not pointy like the "old" ones, they are flat. So i cant see if they are bent :)

I have tried with 12gb 2400mhz ram, 8gb 1800mhz and my own 4 gb 1333mhz. Still no picture.
Im gonna try to find somebody with a newer motherboard to test it in, like an Z97. If thats not working, i guess i just have no accept that its a broken CPU :-(

So im back again. Still the same problem. Now the cpu has been tested in a MSI G43 Gaming and it works in that one.
Is there anybody that can tell me why it wont in my MSI G45 Gaming? I have tested my motherboard with at i5-4670, and it works. And like K6-II point out, my motherboard is compatible with the cpu
