Hey I just recently purchased the Beyerdynamic DT-990-Pro-250 headphones http:// and I know an amp is needed for them as well. I was wondering if anyone could help me on the differences between FiiO E10 http:// and FiiO E10K http:// since the E10K's price is alot more reasonable for my budget. Also, would the E10k be just fine for the headphones as well? Thanks

....a little patience..... forums are not immediate and you should know this.

what is the purpose of the headphones?

if you will be listening to only music then a dac+amp would be good. however, if you want to be gaming you may want to consider a soundcard instead for virtual surround. if you do not care for virtual surround then by all means you can use a dac+amp instead.

the e10k is the newer version of the e10. the older e10 had a slightly warmer sound with more bass boost while the new e10k is more neutral with just a slight hint of bass boost and warmness. otherwise, they are similar.

yes, you can use it with your dt990-250.

if you wanted a soundcard, you can get a creative z for $80 which will power them just as well and give you virtual surround as well which is also good value for the money spent.

Glad you asked. I built a tool that helps you match headphones with amps. It lives at www.audiobot9000.com

E10k is the updated version of the E10. I think the price in Amazon went up because the supply of e10 is cut, e10 used to run about the same msrp.
The sound signature is different (and better) on e10k based on some reviews out there, though everyone got different ears and preferences, so i can't say how it will work for you.
