Will a pci 3 gpu work in a normal pci x16 slot?

im looking to get a graphics card but my mobo only has one pci x16 (low profile) slot
will a pci 3.0 x16 card work in it?

i have a mini mobo, but its in a bigger case so a bigger grapgics card will fit, also a upgraded power supply

Yes it will but remember those words when buying the GPU: "low profile". 750ti, R7 250 and 7750 can be purchased as low profile cards for example.

Should be fine because as far as I know is backwards compatible, might want to google it or wait for somebody more in the know to answer, but if an answer doesn't come, but from somewhere with a money back guarantee so if it doesn't work you can get your money back
