Far Cry 3 - No image on GTX 750ti

Hi everyone,

I own a PC with the A8 6600K processor and, up until recently, have been playing Far Cry 3 on the inbuilt HD 8570D graphics card. The game ran fine on high settings.

I have recently upgraded my graphics card to an Nvidia GTX 750ti, and installed all of the latest drivers, etc. However, when I came to play the game, no picture was displayed (the sounds still run in the background to show that the game is running fine). I have had no issues with other games I've tried.
Can anyone give me any idea as to why the picture might not be showing on the screen now?

Thanks in advance :)

Did you plug your monitor into an output from the video card? Did you uninstall the AMD graphics drivers?

Yes, done and done. Like I said, I'm having no issues running games through the 750ti now (Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed 4, etc. all work fine), just Far Cry 3. I've searched for similar issues online but nobody seems to be having them?

When I click the start icon, I get the menu to select DX9 or DX11 (I've tried both). I start the game and the Far Cry 3 logo shows up on my desktop (as the game loads), but before it goes to the main game menu, the screen just goes black, as though my PC isn't sending a picture to my monitor.

Sounds like a display driver crash, try underclocking your GPU and trying again. Update your graphics drivers too, GTX 750 is great but it isn't the most mature driver set right now. I vaguely remember having issues like this with far cry on my GTX 650 and I had to change some ini settings in far cry 3. Google around and prowl the steam game's forum for far cry 3.

I've read elsewhere that I might need to roll back my driver, as the one I have installed is the latest, but the game worked fine with previous releases. It might be an issue that is (hopefully) resolved with the next update, as I don't really want to uninstall the latest drivers, install old ones, and then reinstall the latest drivers for other games that I play (but that's just laziness on my part).

It sounds pretty software related, you may want to re-install the game or verify files with steam.

That could be the case, as this game was already installed when I updated my graphics card and drivers. It worked before but not after. I shall give it a try.
