need mother board upgrade please help

i currently have a Intel X38 Express in my xps 420 but i want a motherboard that is ddr3 and supports crossfie x16 2.0 and up also i have a LGA 775 socket so my cpu is q6600 the only things i want to buy are the new sticks of ram at least 8 gb thanks in advance i just want a slight upgrade

Thats not really worth upgrading at all. The lga 775 socket is old and so is that cpu upgrading to ddr3 ram isent going to make it noticeably faster. I really recommend you do not spend any money on that and just save up and build your own pc. But if you insist this will work.

And that board is micro atx so idk if that will fit in your case the only motherboards they still make in lga 775 are micro atx.

ok i heard amd cpu's dont last long so i prefer intel can you tell me a good motherboard combo for a intel cpu and a motherboard combo around 200$ i want the mother board to be able to hold at least 16 gb of ram and use crossfire.
srry iam a computer builder noob so i dont really know much about the motherboard and cpu but you help is appriciated

your guess would be as good as mine on that I never looked at the sub $200 intel chips or the sub $125 boards for intel

its hard to find cheap with intel , amd is a bit easier a intel build you can work with and do a good job is going to be around $350 - 400 for a board and a chip like a 4670 and one of the z 87/97 boards that give you the head room if something comes up down the road and not have that ''dang now I wish I would of got'' issue in some way [opinion]

Ok thanks I was triing to keep the build around 500$ but I don't really have any restraint with money so my build now will be around 700$ but thanks at least I won't any issues in the future then

you never know they may come out next month with something that makes whats out there now look obsolete.. all you can do is the best you can and hope it gives you good long term service
