Hi.
I just bought the Z87 mb which is with bios v.1.10.
In their site it is stated that pentium G3258 is supported after v1.40.
I have already ordered the cpu. My question is- is it going to start, because there is nowhere from i can get compatible cpu.
Is there any chance it will start with it ?
Here are the compatible cpus:

Yep, no reply...
It doesen't matter now.
Got the mb, cpu and ram.
It started but i have some problems.
1- it was not restarting. Just turns off the monitor and hdd. I updated to 1.5 bios and this fixed it.
2- Because i live in fuc*ing Bulgaria, they just love to cut the power when they want. So, i had a power cut. Later, i tried to turn it on- black screen and 3 beeps. After a lot of turn off and ons' it started but... "Slot B memory module failed test" and it tells me to get it out. So, i get it out- no problem, boots. Try the other stick alone- boots. Try both- boots again.
...until i restarted it. Same sh... until it starts to boot. Now i have no problems (i actually updated BIOS after these problems).
3- just kidding, i have a problem. A big one. It says 8gb installed, but "(3.18gb usable)". It does it with both sticks, or each one. No difference. Now you will yell me- I am still with the old 8.1 32 bit windows. The problem is, that there are alot people that have the same problem even with 64bit windows. After i submit this, i will install a fresh 8.1 64bit and see what will happen.
I tried the msconfig/boot/maximum memory "uncheck".
Tried swapping the rams. (they are 2x4gb Corsair Dominator 1600mhz, CL9)
Sorry for my bad English.

Sh*t happened again. It was running on one stick. I turned off the pc, put the other one. (a2 and b2 slots)-
"the following channel memory did not pass CPU memory test. Please remove the memory and then plug it again. Channel B"
Got both out and placed them i A1 and B1 slots- it boots, but still 3.18...
And the other problem- "Failed to format the selected partition. error: 0x8004242d"
WTF ?!?!?!

Okay, i formatted the flash and made it bootable again. It worked. I now have 8.1 pro 64bit.And pretty much same sh.. with the ram. Now it is 7.67. As i heard and seen, it must not be there (the "usable 7.67" note).
So, what do we do now.
that sound about right, hardware reserved some memory.

I just straightened it to it's normal position.
I will check the socket tomorrow.
I have a feeling that the motherboard is not ok, or atleast the section of the controller for B2.
I am with Corsair Dominator:
http://www.corsair.com/en/cmp8gx3m2a1600c9
I clocked it to 1600mhz at 1.65v (9-9-9-24)
It still fails to boot when one of the sticks is in port B2.

well did not see that memory on the boards list but that don't mean it won't work then 1.65v may and can be a issue ddr3 is meant to be run at 1.5v and that being 1,65 can be a compatibility issue [opinion]
look at overview
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR3_SDRAM
you may be better served using a memory on there list and 1.5v or the 1.35
heres a link and look what tradesman1 said

It was on 1.5 volts at 1066mhz and like 7-7-7-20 timings.
Even at 1.5 it had this issue.
How about returning it and getting a Geil Evo Veloce 1600mhz CL9 at 1.5 volts ?
They use Hynix chips just like Corsair.
It is also new, not used like the Corsair.
I have read this thread.
Mine are working dead cold.

I found this at newegg reviews of your memory I wonder if this may come in to play on yours??
Cons: WATCH-OUT! I purchased these 4GB modules, and they will not work on my Gigabyte MB! Contacted Corsair and they said they made a change and now these are no longer compatible. This model was listed before as compatible!
I got these working good on a z87 exe6 with a 4670 [dang sure went up in price since I bought them and they were on the exe6 supported memory list ]

the quad kit I think is on your boards list

Well, why not ?
It's not listed in asrock's page.
But still- only slot B2 not working ?
So, do i return the Corsairs' and get the Geil ?

tough call on that cause you really don't know if its a board issue or the memory issue ,and that stuff anit cheap .. don't know unless you got some where to get 2 sticks of memory like from a friend to try to see if it will work then you kinda know .. seeing the sticks you got from your buddy works in all the slots as intended then you can say its the sticks you were using and return them for something else ...

them sticks I posted that I used on the z87 were bought for another build and they did not work too well on it so I stuck them in this build and set them fired it up and -0- issues as you see they worked well on this but not on that
these things can come down to a roll of the dice
can you just find some no thrills memory cheap to try like 2 sticks in the sub $40 range ?? that's on your boards list??

I hate it when it happens like this...
The problems are, that my family is quite poor (we are Bulgarians) and there is no one around with a DDR3 motherboard.
I will just get the geils. I saw in the Asrock's list a compatible one from the same series, but 2100mhz.
There is also no Corsair Dominator in the compatibility list.
G-skill- i cannot find cheap enough.

I was not expecting a poor american
Here in Bulgaria you are either poor as mouse, or a millionare.
Our family's income is around 600$/month. The prices are european... It's pretty much fight for survival.
Looks like you know the feeling. It's not funny at all.
I will get the geil. It's compatible with the Z87 killer, its 1.5 volts at 1600mhz, etc.
The corsair was 120 levs (around 80 USD) and the geil are also second hand, but 90 levs (60$).

It fixed itself somehow.
But, when i tried to clock it, the first time it boot, it detected only B2 module and gave the same message as before...
Well, after restart, it detects them both and is ok. Maybe the bios is shitty...
I have a new problem now. Actually problems...
So, today i got the Geil ram...
Installed it and when tried to get in the UEFI- the mobo froze...
So, i reset the bios. It works, but strange things happen now...
For instance, my browser (firefox) crashes when it wants. It was ok untill i changed the ram.
So, i will reinstall the windows, BUT it fails at 88% with a "windows 8 cannot install required files error 0x8007025d" error...
I am downloading a new ISO and i will try tomorrow.
And God knows why i cannot clock the ram. Maybe the G3258 doesen't like high ram frequencies ?
