Connecting Wireless Router to Wired Router

I have a Ubiquiti Bullet 2HP as the means of acquiring an internet signal aboard my boat. I would like to have that signal go to a Mikrotik wireless router, so that all the devices on the boat can connect to the internet through the wireless router. This question had been answered in this forum back in 2008, but when I follow the directions posted then (http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/24140-42-plug-wireless-router-wired-router) I am having trouble because the wireless router has settings for both WAN and LAN IP addresses, and both have a DHCP on/off button. I'd appreciate greatly of anyone could clarify the setup of the wireless router so that it can accomplish what the forum member asked in that 2008 thread.

On the 2nd router ..

1. Set a static IP address for the LAN connection to match your 2HP routers LAN settings, you may need to adjust any DHCP settings to exclude the static IP. If the router will not save settings without a WAN IP, just give it 0.0.0.0 or something ficticious.

2. Disable anything that makes it a router, like firewall, DHCP, UPNP etc etc, basically turning it in to a wireless switch.

3. Now connect the two together via LAN ports only.

Thats it.

There are two ways to accomplish the connection so it will work properly.

First you can set it as a cascaded router like THIS also as shown in THIS picture where your Ubiquiti is the "front router."

You can also (as your linked thread discusses) set up your Mikrotik router as a wireless access point if you set the Ubiquiti to router mode with DHCP enabled. Take a look at THIS guide for your Bullet setup. If you use the Mikrotik as an AP you will connect it to the Bullet with an LAN to LAN port connection, turn DHCP off in the Mikrotik, give the Microtik a static address outside the Bullet DHCP assignment range, and use the Bullet address as the gateway address for the Microtik.

Maybe I need to be clearer. The Ubiquiti is configured with an IP address of 192.168.100.20, is configured as a DHCP server, and hands out addresses 192.168.100.100 through 192.168.100.200. As far as I can tell these are part of the standard defaults for the Bullet, as outlined in RealBeast's suggestion to use the guide for the Bullet setup.

I'd like to know all of the changes I need to make in the Quick-Set for the Mikrotik router. Someone has recomended that the cable from the Bullet be plugged into one of the LAN ports on the Mikrotik so that a separate network is not created, but so far I don't seem to be able to get my PC to connect through the Mikrotik to the internet through the Bullet. Since I am new at this, I really would appreciate all of the settings that I need to make on that Quick-Set page...I am having trouble understanding the WAN, gateway, DHCP, NAT etc settings so I'll appreciate any help that's offered. Someone mentioned that what I am trying to do is to make the 951Ui-2HnD act as a wireless switch, but that doesn't tell me what to do to, step-by-step, to make that happen :?

I would give the Microtik an an address of 192.168.100.21 and give it a gateway address of 192.168.100.20. As das_stig said, turn off all router related items in the Microtik and connect the two devices LAN port to LAN port (so use one of ports 2-5 on the Microtik). The Microtik manuals that I found are terrible, and I do not use Microtik so you will have to work through making those settings.

I would suggest that you first just connect a computer to one of the other LAN ports of the Microtik and get your Internet connection, then worry about setting up the wireless radio after you know that the switch connection works.

I am including a diagram of what I am trying to do, and screenshots of the Ubiquiti Main tab and the Network tab, which I think will show the default settings for the Bullet. Then I am including the Quick-Set tab for the Mikrotik...one with the mode selected as "AP" and the second with the mode selected as "PTP Bridge". These tabs don't have the settings filled in, rather I included them to show the fileds and maybe to help figure out which of those modes I should be using and how the fields should be filled in

I am trying to add these files but I don't see a way to add an attachment.
