No, Nvidia drivers will disable PhysX when an AMD card is present in the system.

If you want PhysX, then you will want a GTX 780 or better GeForce card.

Yikes, a 780? I seem to do okay with my GTX 770 with PhyX on high in Borderlands 2, one of the only new-ish games where PhysX even matters.

A GTX 770 would be a downgrade from an R9-290. That's why a GTX 780 or 780 Ti would be a more reasonable option.

Oh, I misunderstood, sorry.

I will add, however, that such an upgrade would be an incredible waste in my opinion. How often is PhysX implemented at all, let alone implemented in such a way that its actually worth considering when making a purchase? Borderlands 2, as I mentioned, is a rare example of it making a really obvious difference. But what else?

I'd recommend just sticking with the R9 290, leaving the 660 alone, and forgetting PhysX exists.

Batman: Arkham series, Metro Last Light/Redux, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin's Creed IV, Warface, Hawken, Planetside 2, the new Borderlands prequel, the upcoming Witcher 3, the new upcoming Unreal Tournament... how many games do you need? If you own just one of those games, you want the PhysX on. Otherwise your card's just incapable of playing with full "maxed out" settings, and you're missing out on something in those games that the majority of gamers have turned on.
