I have a 500 watt PSU currently. I have a MSI A88XM-E35, an AMD Athlon X4 760K, 2 sticks of DDR3 RAM, two hard drives (one SSD, one 5400rpm HDD) and a Corsair SPEC-03 case with stock fans. I wish to add an XFX Radeon R9 280 DD Edition Graphics Card. Will i need a PSU upgrade

according to xfx the minimum say 750w that card. you can probably get away with a good quality 650w psu but don't quote me on that lol.

I would personally get a 650w psu just to be on the safe side. You can try with your current psu and see if it's enough.
