Hi!

I have the following system:
Intel i7 4771
Asus H87-Pro
Kingmax 2x4Gb 1600Mhz CL11
Samsung 120Gb EVO SSD
Asus GTX650E 1Gb

I'm using Photoshop and Lightroom mostly, on 1920x1200, and it is eating up my memory (both graphichs and system) I plan to upgrade my graphics card in the future, but right now, I'm thinking about the memory:

Is it worth upgrading to faster CL8 modules? I saw Crucial Ballistics modules almost in the same price as my Kingmax memories right now, and according to memorybenchmark.net, they're twice as fast. Can my system use this, or it'd be redundant because some other components?

My second question is: is it healthy to use three memory sticks? My motherboard manual suggest I should use 2 or 4 modules, though 12Gb memory would be enough for me.

I'm thinking selling the two Kingmax module, and buying three Crucial
Is it a good idea, or I should buy an another 4Gb Kingmax module instead? Or two, and I should stick to four modules?

I hope someone can enlighten me :)
Thank you

1600Mhz CL11.. that is a very bad ram you got there.
It's pretty much like this:
1600Mhz CL8~9
1866MHz CL8~9
2133Mhz CL 9~10
2400Mhz CL 10~11

Anything with a higher CAS latency is just not worth using because the performance will be that of a module with lesser clock frequency.

I understand, and since I didn't do OC, I thought I'd upgrade on the latency. Now, I want 12Gb memory, this means three 4Gb CL8 modules. Should I do this, or it'll impact on the performance, since it's three modules in a dual-channel capable motherboard?

Why 12Gbs and not go for 2 sticks of 8Gbs for dual channel?

I'd go with 2x8GB of 1600 or 1866/9, will be much better and leave you some extra room in the Total DRAM are for larger projects in the future
