Desktop to TV through HDMI giving no signal just a black screen help?

My brother has been trying to connect his PC to his Sony HD TV by using a HDMI cable but the TV is only showing no signal and a black screen. We have tried another TV and yet still a black screen. We have also tried a different HDMI cable and a VGA cable with the same outcome. Please help.

We have no way to check what's on the computer such as checking if it says another monitor is attached as we can't see the screen and we can't check the GPU software either for the same reason. It worked before just tried today and no image. Sorry if there is a way to check these things without being able to use the PC I am not very experienced with computers.

Oh I'm sorry, I guessed the TV would be a secondary screen.
So basicly your PC hasn't been able to get any video output?

What are your computer specification? GPU, motherboard, CPU and such.
And where do you put your HDMI? In your motherboard, or GPU?
