Hi! I have a few questions. I just bought and installed a new 4790k with an Asus Z97-AR Motherboard. It is not overclocked and is using stock cooling.

First, Core temps with skype and chrome open are 46-50C. The temp in the room is about 75-80C. Are these normal temps?

Second, sometimes speccy will show temps jump from 47C to 65C and back in a second. Is this normal?

Third, Core 0 is running an average of 5-6 Degrees C hotter than the other cores. Is this normal?

Thanks!

Haswell CPUs have been known for their thermal regulation flaws. Many of the chips will jump for seemingly no reason and they run much hotter than Sandy and Ivy did. Those temperatures are not bad, but I think you meant 75-80F, not C. For 80F, those temperatures are very good.

Thank you for the answers.

Do you know if the core 0 being 5-6 degrees hotter than the other cores is normal, though?

Yes, cores will rarely be the same temp as each core may be working or not working at any given time.
