Hello everyone,

I have been getting some errors where my computer freezes and i have to shutdown the power to get it to reboot. This occurs randomly when im not even attempting to overclock the system. Mostly happens when i boot the system for the first time of the day or when im browsing the net.

The massage i get after i reboot the system is:

AMIBIOS (C) American Megatrends. Inc.

ASUS RAMPAGE IV BLACK EDITION ACPI BIOS Revision 0403
CPU: Intel (R) Core (TM) i7-4930k CPU @ 3.40GHz
Speed: 3400MHz (Target Speed: 3900MHz)

Total Memory: 32768MB (DDR3-1333)
USB Devices ........
......

Overclocking failed! Please enter Setup to re-configure your system.
Press F1 to Run SETUP.

My PC Specs:
CPU: i4930k
RAM: 4x 8g Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866mhz
Mother Board: Asus Rampage Black Edition
Graphics Card: GTX780Ti
Disk Space: 256gb Samsung Evo SSD

Can anyone please help me to resolve this issue? Will choosing the option to "Load Optimized Default" in BIOS help?

Thank you!

Is there a reason why you would suspect it to be the RAM? Sorry im just trying to learn more about computer in general.

I will try loading the profile, but it's not all the time i can replicate the issue. I guess only time will tell after the re-load the profile.

I have now Loaded the Optimized Default settings for the BIOS but i am still getting the same error.

I have also run the Windows Memory Test, the results came out with no error. I noticed this time, the error has a different Target Speed: 4500MHz. I am kind of hinting towards the CPU is failing to overclock with the asus motherboard bios setting to automatically overclock the system .

You need to perform a hard clearing of the CMOS settings, usually done with the motherboard Clear RTC jumper, find it in your M/B manual and follow clearing instructions, that will assure all the previous settings have been reset, just loading a profile or default values may not clear everything.
