Hey guys,

I just got a new fan Hyper 212 Evo, I installed it and during the installation I stuck the heatsink onto the CPU and a few minutes later realized that I needed to turn my heatsink in the other direction. While removing it my cpu popped out with it. Everything seemed ok and I slipped it right back in. Anyway I finally installed the fan, connected the power cables and when I try to turn my computer back on, it powers up and I hear the fans spin, but I hear no beep and my monitor displays nothing.

I have a FX 6300, Radeon R7 250 and a 450w PSU.

Any thoughts on what could be going wrong? Did I mess my CPU up when I tried to turn my heatsink?

I hope this is not the case but it stands to reason that you may have accidentally forced your cpu into the socket oriented in a way that it was not intended. You should be able to check this without any real effort by simply removing and inspecting your cpu pins. There are a multitude of other factors that could be at play but when you use key words like "popped" and "slipped" it just makes me cringe for you. Even if it was placed back in the right way there could be damage pins on the underside of the chip.

Remember that the 6300 should feature a yellow or orange arrow in the corner of the CPU. This has to match the marking on the board.

As a secondary note did you remove your thermal paste and reapply after you turned your heat-sink? Removing and reapplying a heat-sink using the same paste often will degrade your ability to transfer heat.
