My GPU has a DVI-I and a DVI-D port. The moniter I have uses VGA and the DVI-I port is already in use. If you know which converter I need to use, please provide a link to a website i can buy it from, Thanks
Never mind I see whaere his DVI I is in use but that adapter should still work for a DVI-D to a single monitor. I know as I have done this in the past.
A passive DVI-to-VGA adapter simply maps the analog, sync and EDID signals from the DVI-I port pins to VGA pins. A DVI-D port lacks the analog signals altogether (the connector may even be missing the analog signal holes, making the plugs mechanically incompatible) and cannot work with a passive adapter.
Not that one for sure!!! this one is so much cheaper and usually can find them for around $3 USD. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812226071&cm_re=dvi_adapter-_-12-226-071-_-Product
No. That one is passive and will not work on DVI-D. The title is wrong
And his GPU has a DVI-i out put also. it will work in that one.
