( made about 2 topics today but I need some concrete answers, so I'm just making a summary. ) Recently my PSU died out because of me inserting a USB cable connected to my mic? ( or it might have been the dongle, but whatever. ) Anyways, I know the PSU isn't working anymore but what about the connected cables? I mean, I don't see any physical damage to my system components like burns or something like that, nor did I smell anything funny, so I'm pretty sure everything except the PSU is fine. All I know is that I heard some kind of static in the PSU and saw some sparks inside, but that's it. I had a XFX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... and now I just bought a Seasonic http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Can I use the same cables, like are XFX's compatible with Seasonics PSU's? And if I can, should I? I don't know if the cables are safe to use anymore because of the PSU being fried and I don't want to fry my system or anything. ALSO, will the cables that came with case like LED and USB be fine to use?

No, you shouldn't use modular cables from one PSU for another. On top of that, the cables are probably keyed differently, making it impossible to swap cables.

i would advise against it. it might be damaged also, sure you could inspect them, but for your peace of mind i suggest you don't, i wont.
besides, if you have a new seasonic, it comes with everything you need, unless you mean extension cables, which you can buy anyways.

as for the other cables, i suggest you inspect them for any damage, or maybe brittleness (it might not be easily seen) or burn signs. better safe than sorry right?

Definitely not, different manufacturers often wire the cables differently at the PSU end (obviously they are the same at the other end). Its even possible that a different revision of the same PSU has different wiring. Using the modular cables from an old PSU could therefore ruin a new one and potentially damage your components in the process. Besides, psu's come with all their cables anyway so I don't see many scenarios where you'd need to reuse the old ones! Hope this helps.

I literally so no physical damage whatsoever to my system ( except for dust lol. ) And the cables seem fine. I will replace the PSU cables, but will the cables like the USB that came with the case be fine? I checked for any sign of damage but I don't see anything. I'm assuming I got lucky and only my PSU got damaged?
