Is the Gtx 780 ti worth the extra money?
i am planning on playing games like crysis (1-3) and heavily modded skyrim in 2048 × 1080.

additional information:
cpu: intel I7 4790K 4.0ghz
ram: 16 gb

Solution
You people are all nuts, I have a 3570k OC'd to 4.2GHz, 16GB ram, and an MSI 680 Lightning with only 2GB of ram running a 27" 2560x1440p monitor at 90+ FPS in a heavily modded Skyrim. At only 1080p a 780 would run that game with practically any amount of mods all day long with no problems. 2048x1080 isnt much more then regular 1920x1080, so if you want to get a 780ti over a regular 780, go for it, but you don't need to. A 780 will do you just fine.

that also a reason i recommended him the r9 290. the 4gb vram is better for higher resolutions. now op if you get more monitors at 2k or even 1080p your going to need at least 4gb or 6gb to run at like high-med a sli/cfx is recommended for 3 monitors.

What are you talking about? Vanilla Skyrim is NOT a demanding game, my GTX 770 2GB can max it out easily with 100+ FPS without V-sync.

OP, if you want to mod the hell out of Skyrim then you don't want the 780ti since it only comes with 3GB of VRAM, you want the 6GB 780. If you plan on running texture mods, then the extra VRAM will seriously help to ensure a stutter free experience. I max out my VRAM pretty much as soon as I load into my game, I really wish I went for the 4GB 770. Modded Skyrim likes as much VRAM as it can have, I assume it'll only get worse when Fallout 4 is FINALLY announced/released.

Edit: For reference, my 770 can run Skyrim with multiple full size texture packs, a demanding ENB, and tons of other mods at around 40-50 FPS, so a 780 will easily run the game heavily modded at around 50-60+ FPS.

not skyrim(i keep messing up) i went on HardOp and to even max out skyrim they needed like a r9 295x2 and a r9 290x
