Hi,
Im about to buy some new ram for my pc.
I was choosing between corsair vengeance 8gb - crucial 8gb or the g skill 8gb 1866

my choice is now the G skill 1866 8gb
my question: Is there any noticeable difference between the blue gskill and the red one ?
i know the blue have a latency of 8 and the red a latency of 9

I can get both for the same price
wich one should I buy ?

Red one is better if you like red color more than 1 latency quicker, which is what it sounds like. =)

You won't notice a difference so don't worry.

Memory that will work
Need serious help please. I bought a ASUS Maximus VII Formula/Watch Dog mother board. I ordered GSill memory from New Egg. I decided to go with GSkll Trident 32 GB 4 x 8 sticks. My question is this will the F3-2400C10Q-32GTX work? Is it comptible to my mother board. I have ordered the memory from New Egg. My email is jfayed@comcast.net. According to the QVL from Asus this memory is not on their QVL.

Also I will be running a Haswell 4.0.

Thank you Jaye

No problem at all, just make sure to enable XMP profile in BIOS/EFI under AI Overclock Tuner. It is the first option in the AI Tweaker section.

Let us know if you have any problems or questions!

Gskills

Thank you for your comment to my quote above. I received the memory today and I swear it must weigh 2 pounds. I have never seen memory stick made with that quality and perfection. I just hope it works with my Haswell 4.0 and my new mother board. This memory looks bad ass in the package. One question....,.,..when I boot up the machine for the first time before I load my new Win 8.1 do I go directly into setup menu and find the XMP button?

Thanks for all your help. If this works I will be Gskills for life.

Sincerely thank you

Jaye

You would want to enable XMP as soon as you install your new kit, so that you can be running your modules at its rated speed.

XMP is in BIOS, so when you boot up the system, press Del button or whichever it is to enter BIOS/EFI. Then look for XMP Profile and enable it. I don't know what motherboard you have so I can't be more specific. Once that is done, use a program like CPU-Z to double check settings.

Let us know how it goes!

Noctua NH-D14 and CoolerMaster Hyper 212 are the air coolers to look at

I don't entirely agree,it depends on the budget too.I compared some good coolers among which is the evo,
http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/compare/cooler-master-cpu...
the two most expensive are also ~170mm high so your case must be able to take them.Which case do you have?
From the two cheapest would i pick the Xigmatek.
