Will this hurt my stock heatsink?

I have an AMD Athlon X4 750K that I am reusing for a build and it has been sitting in the box for a few months with the thermal paste on it (it was from my first build so I didn't think of removing it before I put it in the box) and I am going to reapply thermal paste to it using Arctic Silver 5. I have cleaned the thermal paste off of the CPU and heatsink using 91% isopropyl alcohol and the CPU looks good, but the heatsink looks like it still has a little tint of grey in some places where the paste used to be. Will it hurt the CPU or heatsink if I reapply the thermal paste or will it be fine? Also, if I should clean it more should I use Arctic Silver cleaner and see if that makes the heatsink look cleaner?

Clean off the old stuff and put new grease on there. Re-using your old paste is a bad idea.

Agree, clean off the old thermal paste and reapply new. Using old paste is a bad idea.

I have cleaned it but in some parts of the the heatsink it is a little darker, I don't know if that is thermal compound that didn't come off or it is just me. Will it hurt the CPU or heatsink if I put new Arctic Silver 5 on the CPU or should I try to clean the heatsink again using Arctic Silver cleaner?

Save your money. All it needs is some elbow grease.

So I should just put the Arctic Silver 5 paste on it and it won't do anything even if there is the smallest amount of old thermal compound still on the heatsink?

If you can see old grease on there then you haven't cleaned it thoroughly. Half-ass work gets half-ass results. Now don't report back until you have done it right.

Looks like everything is off now so the new thermal paste should work well.
