Hey any AMD/Gigabyte Overclockers out there willing to help a newbie out with this stuff? I am too scared to even attempt this a second time, after I completely dun goofed my first time, I had to manually reset my motherboard. I need atleast 4.3-4.5ghz to actually keep up with the video card.

Here are my specs

>AMD FX-6300 CPU
>Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 mobo
>8gb 1600mhz dual channel performance Ram
>3GB R9 280X GPU
>CX600 watt Bronze PSU
>CM Hyper Evo 212+ cooler

I am particularly confused on what and what not to alter. I only changed the multiplier and disabled core boost the first time I did this.

There is 500 posts about your board and cpu in that thread. Although you have to read the whole thing because the information is wrong on some posts in the beginning. Also you can search for and read the PDF called AMD FX tuning performance guide. It's gives a little info about how to overclock and it's from AMD.

There is a few different methods to overclocking the FX series. If you want to only overclock the cpu you only need to change the multiplier and manually push up the vcore/cpu voltage. I have the same setup and mine is at 4.69ghz with 1.46volts under load. My ram is at 2136.
