SSD Slow Issue

Hello fellas, here's a common problem that many have had, including me: my SSD is slow.

I have the Kingston HyperX with advertised speeds of >500MB/sec in read and writes, but I never reach above 400 in either (see image).

Can you suggest anything? Anything that I may have done wrong? I installed my Win 7 with the default settings of AHCI enabled.

Or am I really getting what's expected?

Yes, the advertising isn't realistic. When you look at the speeds with smaller blocks sizes and more random access (i.e. more typically of real life usage) then the number are typically an order of magnitude lower than the advertised speeds.
The NVMHCI protocol on newer SSDs might help with this.
