Hello i am just curious, i have done some research the past few weeks on certain pc parts, as i am planning on building a gaming pc. Here are the current specs i have planned for my build (i am also a bit new here so i dont know if this is the right place for this thread lol)
CPU: AMD Athlon 760k Quad Core 3.8 ghz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB DDR5
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 AMD
Hard Drive: WD Blue 1 TB 7200 RPM
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (may upgrade to 16 GB if needed)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 750Watt ATX
I am looking to play most games (battlefield, minecraft, WoW, Skyrim, etc.) at 1080p on at least medium settings over 60 fps. Is this good? or is there anything i should change? I didnt buy anything yet as i want to make sure, and i dont want to spend over $1000 if possible, and you guys seem to know a lot about this stuff haha, so if theres anything i should change, let me know! thanks a bunch

Do you need an OS? Does your price include your 1080p monitor, tax, peripherals? What country/city are you buying in?

That motherboard and cpu are not compatible, and the PSU is not good quality. But you're on the right lines

I were to just tweak your build I'd swap the athlon 760k for an FX-6300 and the PSU for one made by XFX.
But a $1,000 build would get you a solid pc. EDIT: just saw you have a monitor...

Comments and questions welcome. Do you have any preference for cpu (amd vs intel) or gpu (nvidia vs amd)?

The FX is good and will go well with that motherboard, but the gtx 660 is actually faster than the 750ti.

Isn't the psu a bit expensive? My gaming pc which I built 1 1/2 months ago has a evga 500w 80+ bronze which I got for $49.99 CDN + $20 mail in rebate, which brings it to $29.99 CDN + 12% tax. That evga is tier three, the xfx xxx is tier 1: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1804779/power-...

Ah you're right, I was looking at the part numbers. Pro edition ends in S-XXB9 and the xxx edition ends in X-XXB9. I didn't see the S
It doesn't make much difference unless you're planning to overclock, although THW tends to steer people towards the tier 1 or tier 2a regardless. Tier 3 is adequate for the average user.
