Graphics Card Update

Ok so I had a 9800 GTX 512 PNY card, and most have said it is outdated, It worked great for gaming, but now I need to know what an upgrade of that would be, meaning something in the range of $0-100 for I am on a budget and I know I can find great deals on Amazon or Ebay but prefer Amazon , but open to suggestions, just need something that I can still online game with that is equivalent to that card I had

Unless your old card is dead and you need a new one, or you need to drop the power draw, I can't see spending money to get lower performance. You already said you'd wait, I'd keep saving.

I would recommend that you wait a little while and increase your budget to about $200. There is a huge price/performance threshold with graphics cards. Once you pass about the $120 price tag, there is an almost exponential performance leap for very little increase in cost. I would recommend saving for a Geforce GTX 750ti. It is a high performance, low power GPU that can handle many modern titles at 1080p at medium to high settings. It also uses next generation maxwell architecture which means it runs very cool. It costs about $150.

However, if you must have something now I would recommend a Geforce GT 640. It costs around $88 and would definitely be a huge upgrade from the 9800 gtx.

It wouldn't actually. GT640 is just a bit faster then the old 9800GT. He has a card around the GTS250/450. The 5770/6770 would be a minor upgrade, but you said if he can get $150+ then he's talking a real upgrade. The biggest problem with his current card is that it uses a lot of power. The performance from it isn't bad, though definitely starting to hit the low end range now.

well the mobo i am using supported the one I had just fine so I havent checked if these others would work. But I was just looking around and was wondering if any of these few I found are worth getting.

well the old card i just dont know if its dead or if its fixable, the fan came out, like it just dropped , but it fits back inside fine, just when I turn pc back on it sounds like its grinding on something , but in the meantime a friend of mine is letting me use his card which is the same one or same kind i shall say , mine is the PNY his is the XFX , so it will hold me over til I get more money for a better card , Ty all for the advice tho , it is very appreciated :)
