best nvidia geforce card for £500 -£550

Hey all, hope everyone is good.

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a very good nvidia geforce card for my desktop for £500 - £550, preferably i would like to be able to play games from round about 2010 onwards very smoothly at max and newer games such as watch dogs or wolfenstein the new order pretty well.

Fair warning:
The best single gpu cards are overkill if you only have 1 monitor and its not 4k (some of them is an overkill even then).

They are overkill but if somebody has £500 to spend on a graphics card then you don't point them at a £150 GTX 760, You choose the best card for the budget they have and for £500 you can get a GTX 780ti which will give them some fantastic performance and will last for quite a few years, Also you can SLI the card in the Future to get even better performance

Have you considered that he probably has only one monitor? Just a full HD one? It is very likely.
So he will have to go on and buy one or two new monitor. Are you in the budget of ~500 pounds?

He wants to have good gaming capabilities, not a good piece of electronics.

You have 4k monitor with 30 FPS with 760 GTX and you have a 1080p monitor with 300 FPS and a 780 Ti

Some serious notes on your motion:

You don't really love 30 FPS on such an awesome 4k display. And first please do tell me the game which gives 30 FPS on Ultra on 4k with 760.

And I can't think of an instance where you compare a lower card on 4k and a higher one on FHD.

780 Ti on 4k= solid 40+ FPS on Ultra.
GTX 760 on 4k=miserly 15-20 FPS on high-ultra with lots of screen tearing.

GTX 780 Ti on FHD=120 FPS on Ultra.
GTX 760 on FHD=50+ FPS on Ultra.

two way GTX 760 4GB is much better then one GTX 780Ti. With the 2GB and 4GB versions, performance should be the same, unless you game with multiple screens and high resolutions above 1080p.

Yep, you are right, 4k is too much for a 760 GTX, I admit.
( I didn't look up the numbers, I was just trying to get some light on my point: with only an older monitor it is pointless to compare 780 Ti with other cards)

Also as I linked before: two 760s have the same power and are significantly cheaper leaving budget for a better display set.

I am only speculating now: if you only want to answer the question as it is, you are right, 780 Ti is the one. But if you see it worth to give advice that might be useful to the questioner you have more room to think saving money and bettering his experience.
