Hello there!

I'm having a frustrating experience with this operating system, Whenever I play games my computer shuts down at a random time and I have to start it again, I don't get no errors, just shuts down.

This never happened to me on linux and I switched to windows 7 because I don't have any games.

This usually happens when playing: Starbound, Terraria or WoW: Cataclysm
My drivers are up to date and i have no idea what to do now. it's really annoying.

This can be a problem of your power supply. Since until you play a game, most of the times you'll not push the hardware to their limits. So the sudden high power requirement may not be able to withstand the power supply. What are the components you have? also what is the power supply and the wattage?

Also this can be a driver issue. Check whether you have the latest drivers installed.

I checked that I have the latest drivers and I do,
My friend suggested that I should clean out my computers heatsink which prevents it from cooling or something, I'll try that later but thank you

IT's not a OS problem --- it is most likely 1 of 2 things :

1.) Heat build up -- due to being clogged with dirt or not having enough airflow - Modern Pcs have thermal shut downs that will shut the system down once too high of a temp is reached in order to prevent damage to the parts -- get a couple temperature tracking programs and run them while gaming and check the logs after it shuts down to see what temps are at when it shuts down ( and if they are reaching the shut down temp you'll know what needs fixing )

2.) Power supply lacks power to run the system under stress resulting in a shutdown - Is this a pre-built system you purchased and added an upgraded GPU into ?? If so chances are the power supply is not able to provide enough stable power to run the system under stress ( as the system ages and\or the temperatures increase the Power supply output drops - and if the power supply does not have sufficient overhead to comp[ensate for these changes the system will shut down once a lack of stable power occurs (usually as the system warms up from running programs and the PSU reaches a point where the output is not enough to provide stable output to all the components.) What are the full system specs and how old is the system ??

Hi JDFan
I've gotten HWMonitor and even when i'm not playing games it's the same thing, 75 C to 81 C, when I'm gaming around 95 C, it's alot I know but i'm not sure what's causing this. I've cleaned the whole PC and I can assure you that the fan is not clogged.

The only thing I changed was my graphics card so I can play games faster, that's pretty much it.

As for my specs:
Memory: 2048MB RAM/2gb
Graphics Card: Nvidia GT 610 updated drivers
Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 4400e (2 CPUs)
BIOS: don't know it's from 2010 though

That's all the info I know

What are the system specs ?? and what Powersupply do you have (there should be a label on the PSU that tells the wattage and Amps on the various rails (ie. +5V , +12V) ?? DId you install a new Powersupply when you added the new video card that most definitely requires more power ?? If not then that could be the problem since these prebuilt computers are made for the cheapest amount of $ they can and putting a powersupply that can barely run the system with the components that the system ships with is common - so once you add more memory, a higher en video card, etc. you usually need to also upgrade the power supply in order to keep it stable.

Also when you cleaned out the Dust did you open up the Power supply and clean it out also ?? The fan inside the PSU gets dusty also and is a bit harder to get to to clean !

An easy way to tell if it's a heat problem is to play those games with the side cover removed from the case. If you have a house fan you can point at the motherboard, great, if not, just try playing with the case open. 95C sounds pretty hot. That's 203F.
