how to get 32 bit to 64 bit on a 64bit system?

Solution
If you have a x86 (32-bit) version of windows installed, but your chip is capable of running x64 (64-bit), there is a very simple way to solve your problem but it isn't the answer you're going to want to hear. The bad news is that easy way is to reload your system with a 64-bit installer disk. The good news is if the license if an OEM license with a sticker on the case, you should be able to recycle the key. In some cases, this might require a call to Microsoft but in most cases (HP especially), I have been able to reload the system using the disks included with the product (HP likes to package both an x86 and an x64 installer disk including a driver disk though you might have to download drivers ahead of time from their support page...

Chipset and NIC drivers are the most important, everything else you can load through windows update or from their support site once it's booted)
