what cpu should i get

Solution
You've chosen a Z series MoBo which means OC-able, and the budget you specified is for a non-K CPU, meaning a Non-OC-able CPU.
By the cost of MoBo and CPU budget, it appears your budget is $300 for both combined. Am I correct here?
If you don't wish to OC, then get this combo:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor ($188.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock H97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($88.99 @ Mwave)
Total: $277.98

This one will give very good non-OC performance for the price, and the MoBo is very good too.

OR If you want to OC, get this one:

b]CPU:[/b] Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($199.99 @ Micro Center)
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Extreme3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($104.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $304.98

This is the best gamer's CPU, and the MoBo is a solid one, with SLI and Crossfire support.

I hope you've chosen a good enough GPU, or you may want to tell the budget so I'll adjust the 3 within that.

Also, both H and Z MoBo I chose will support Broadwell as well :)
