Im not interested in overclocking and the PC will be for MMO's and a range of other games. Is the i7 board Gigabyte H81M-H decent?

Thanks for any advice

If it works, then it'll do fine. If you're not overclocking, it really doesn't matter too much for the motherboard, as long as it has the features you want, then you'll be fine. I'd go with build #2 if you don't mind the extra cost, it's more future proof. The problem with it is that the gains from the other build would be minimal.

For most MMO games the difference between the 4690k and 4790 is going to be almost not noticeable. If you aren't overclocking the K then the difference isn't really worth even considering, though the difference between the 770 and 780 will generally be quite a bit faster, something to the tune of 10-25% depending on the game and settings you use.

The H81 is fine if you aren't going to be doing anything like overclocking or SRT (SSD caching) or similar features that the enthusiast boards have. As long as it has all the ports and features you need it should be fine.

I guess it really comes down to if you think the 780 is worth the 78 more than the 770. It's a similar choice to yetserday though, the two are going to be close so you are going to end up with a pretty nice machine in either case.

Assuming you are just going to plug it in and forget about the hardware and run them as is the i7 with the 780 is a better machine. If you happen to want to tweak lots of stuff and maybe push some CPU speed in the future the i7 kind of locks you out of that, so just be aware of that choice if you pick the i7.
