So I just upgraded from an hd 7770 to a 7950 but my cpu is still an fx4150 quad core.

Do I have to worry about a bottleneck? I'm still relearning the newest tech since I went to school in 2001 and way out of practice.

I wanna upgrade to a new cpu eventually but I don't know if I wanna go all that way to an octacore... I mean what games really need that many Cores?

There will be some games that are CPU dependent where it will hold back your GPU. I think the amount is low enough right now that you will be fine sticking with the 4150. There are a couple games out that take advantage of multiple cores, most still rely on past single process performance but as time goes on the quad and 8 core CPUs will start to shine.

Unless you overclock the shit our of the FX-4150, it will bottleneck the 7950 in about 90% of all games.
