755 SFF use a Q35 chipset and will support that cpu, but the BIOS on Optiplex's is extremely restrictive and don't support overclocking features, at least from what I've seen at my workplace (we have 50+ of those 755 SFF).

While it is not officially supported, I saw quite a few sources online that claim compatibility. It is pretty much "at your own risk" though. In the thread below the user SpeedStep verifies that in his own 755 a Q9650 did work. Do note that he said it only worked with the A20 BIOS revision.

I'm sorry, but what is a A20 BIOS revision? I'm relatively knew to the prospects of motherboards and BIOS's, the only thing I know about BIOS is you should update them before adding new components. So how can I obtain or update to a A20 BIOS revision or does my Optiplex 755 come with it?

It should be available on the Dell site to download. Simply go to the support section of there site and enter your service tag (it should be on a black sticker on the top of the computer). The go to the Downloads and Drivers option and click on the BIOS section. It should be listed in there for download. I'll be back online later if you have more questions, but I'm heading out for a bit now. Good Luck!
