Hey guys,

I've been trying to find an aftermarket solution for my XFX DD R9 290 because I feel the current DD solution from XFX is not up to par. I've been looking at the Gelid Rev. 2 Icy Vision and the NZXT G10, either one is fine. After several hours of googling over several days, I still cannot figure out if either of these 2 coolers are compatible with my card. I believe they are both compatible with the XFX DD R9 290 Black Edition, but I have no clue if the Black Edition has the same PCB as the regular DD.

Any help would be massively appreciated.

Looks like nobody knows the answer, but I was able to get an answer from XFX technical support finally.

The XFX DD class cards are reference PCB boards, just with a nonreference cooler shroud. Much like the ACX line from EVGA.

Hello Kaisei,

We're sorry you are not pleased with the 290 DD cooler. Are you seeing abnormally high temperatures? 90'C+? It could be a fan is failing on the DD model. We could help replace that for you if so.

I can confirm the 290 DD uses a reference layout PCB, with non-reference cooling fans (designed by XFX).

If you have any questions, PM me or create a ticket at xfxsupport.com.

Thanks!
