Hey guys,

Do you have any suggestions for a gaming PC for about $800?

$800 not including monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

I would like to run Day Z, modded Minecraft, and BF3

Intel CPUs are faster per clock than AMD CPUs. You can't compare them on GHz speed. Yes, a 3GHz i5 will work great. The minimum recommended CPU specs for DayZ are "Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz" and the recommended CPU specs are "Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD Phenom II X4 940 or better". The i5-2300 mentioned is a few generations old and runs at 2.8GHz.

Thanks man, do you think I could change the processor to an AMD 3.8GHz type of processor? Is 3.0 GHz going to be enough?
