I have a new, built PC that has one 500gb hard drive. I wanted to set up RAID 0, so I took a 80gb hard drive from my old (and i mean very old) PC. Now, I do know that it is NOT a good idea to set up RAID with two hard drives that aren't identical, but what happens if one hard drive (the 80gb one) becomes full? What will happen to my other drive? If there is an issue, like the array will stop working, then i can switch to JBOD or buy another 500gb drive.

You will only be able to use the first 80Gb of the 500GB drive. If you want to add another drive later you will need to break the array and setup a JBOD with the other drive.

You''ll lose all data on the array if you do this so you'll need to make a backup before adding the third...
