My PC for the last few days hasn't been able to pick up any wireless networks. However my other devices like phone and I-pad are connected to my wifi fine. Instead of a wireless card I have a wireless USB adapter which virgin my Internet provider gave me. I've never had this problem before a few days ago when it started. When I go on the wireless USB adapter setup, it'll scan for a wps network but when it's finished the status will say 'wps timeout'. I have a superhub if that info is needed. Is this a problem with my PC or?? I'd really appreciate some help here, I've tried everything I could think off. Thanks.

You have 2 different issues.

First is to be able to see a wireless network. This is in no way related to WPS you want to ignore anything that even talks about WPS. You need to just go to the network setting and setup a new wireless network. It should give you a list of wireless devices it sees to connect to. If it is like most people houses you will see networks from all your neighbors as well as your own.

If you see absolutely nothing then you have a fundamental problem with the wireless card. It is either going to be a driver issue or a defective card.

So if we now assume you can see at least some wireless networks find your router in the list and select it. It should prompt you for the WPA/WPA2 password and pretty much...
I would uninstall and reinstall the device drivers. You should be able to let it scan for all networks. If it still sees nothing I would be suspect that the card went bad.

You really should disable the WPS and manually set the WPA2 keys in your machine. It not like it is that hard to select the SSID you want to connect to and type in a key 1 time. WPS can easily be cracked and once someone has the WPS number they can get your actual keys you use to encrypt the connection even if you change it many times. You can not change the WPS number so once someone gets it there is nothing you can do....other than turn off WPS completely which is the recommended setting.

Hey bill, what do you mean by 'I suspect the card went bad'? I don't have a wireless card, just that wireless usb adapter. Also how do I manually set the wpa2 keys? Thanks.

So I type to quickly I mean the USB device.

WPS is not WPA or WPA2. It is not a actual encryption method it is used in addition to WPA to set the keys. The easy way to remember is wpS is for STUPID people. Mostly it is for lazy people who don't want to bother to read the manual and learn to setup the security. Because the router manufactures were selling their devices to people who think operating a toaster is hard they tried to make it simpler and came up with WPS. It did not take long before huge security holes were found that are impossible to fix. Of course the lazy people don't read security announcement either so they just stay in their happy little world thinking they are safe and leave WPS enabled.

Now after you are all done and everything works you should go back and disable the WPS in your router just to make sure nobody breaks in.

After rereading your initial post what your issue may be is your router has WPS disabled from the factory but you are trying to use the WPS feature. You need to manually create the connection the only extra step is keying in the password.
