I recently did a custom build and since i got it up and running, i have been experiencing crashes frequenty while running certain programs. my first thought was an incorrect driver. Here is my custom build information.

cpu: AMD FX-9590 Vishera 8-Core 4.7GHz Socket AM3+ 220W Desktop Processor
mobo: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Gaming Motherboard with 3-Way
memory (x2): G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9S-8GBXL
gpu: Asus R9 280x
ssd (with os): SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
hd: WD black caviar 7200rpm 1TB (for files and larger games installed)
cpu heatsink: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler
PSU: LEPA MaxBron B1000-MB 1000W ATX CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

It has never crashed while i use smaller programs but when i use programs like battlefield 4, titanfall, ableton live 9, photoshop, and even watching movies on chrome. 99 percent of the time the computer just freezes completely making me put it into force shutdown. Other times it will just crash and give me a blue screens such as:

- IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
- DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
- DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER
- SYSTEM_THRED_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (atikmdag.sys)

Im not sure what to do next. dont know how to get to the crash reports as well. any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is happening here is that the system becomes extremely unstable when under any kind of load. This is because your CPU can pull up to 220 watts at full power, but the motherboard only supports a maximum 140 watt CPU. The system will automatically shut itself down if the CPU draws too much power to protect its MOSFET and VRM circuits.
Here is the ASUS Spec Sheet on the Mobo:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULAZ/specifications/

Unfortunately, the solution here is to either buy a different motherboard that supports the FX 9590, or buy a lower power CPU. Remember to always check if the two are compatible before buying.

i feel like your statement is wrong http://www.pc-specs.com/cpu/AMD/FX/FX-9590/1875/Compatible_Motherboards

ALSO found this. it even says on newegg where i bought the cpu that it should work on the select mobos which i got. the listed mother boards they gave are the top of the line amd mobos. what else world work with the top of the line amd processor. lol i would like to know.

"This CPU is only compatible with the selected 990FX motherboards.
For example:
ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z, GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD7 and ASRock 990FX Extreme9."
