Okay, so I have a USB Stick that I know works, I tried it on my other laptop (Asus EEEPC) which works fine booting. The laptop I have now is an Dell Inspiron 14R 5421.

Now the problem didn't persist. It actually has booted from a USB before. Which is how I got Ubuntu on here but for some reason everytime I try to boot from my USB now, it skips it and goes straight to Ubuntu.

Things I have tried:

1. Switch boot order
2. Legacy Boot
3. Recreate USB
4. Bootloader option

It just seems to skip it and go straight to the OS but my other netbook goes into the USB.

Solution
try using the usb port on the back, often those are the only bootable ones. Tryall the usb2 ports as sometimes its only 1 that's enabled.
