I have an i5-3570k (@ stock), a EVGA GTX 770 SC ACX, and 12GB of RAM.
I had been used to gaming with Aero off when I had a less beefy rig, but does it really have significant ramifications considering my relatively powerful system?
I do like the look and Aero Peek capabilities, but do wonder about a performance hit (or lack thereof).

Dude, Aero does so little on your performance. Don't even worry about it. Aside from that, you can't really use Aero for it to impact your performance during games.

there is a minimal hit to the CPU performance while gaming but if you only have 1 GB of ram on the GPU it will make an impact as it can use around 200 to 230 MB of ram to have it running.

with a more powerful system the impact is not noticeable.

even though the aero is not seen it is still drawn and affects performance. If you do not believe me then start a game and look at the ram usage of your GPU. then turn it off and look at it again. you will see a drop in usage even though you can not see it.
