I have a desktop system that I assembled, with a 28" monitor. I am considering installing a smaller monitor - 15" square, if I can find them - on the left and right. One of the new monitors will be to display video content, the second one to display chatting and all forms of social media. My reasons for doing this - I don't like things popping up on the screen when I am working, as social media stuff tends to do. I also like to watch/listen to video (movies, training, etc) while doing my work. I use the 28" monitor to do my work.
I understand the technology needed to do this. My questions are:
1. What is the ergonomics of this situation? Is this likely to be more harsh on the eyes/head/neck, shoulders, etc. The monitors will not be in a straight line - each of the new monitors will be at a 30-40 degree angle to the main one, creating an arc of monitors.
2. Is there software that will allow me to set up programs so that when I open the computer, they will default to using monitors #1, #2 or #3? And also will default to using a certain part of the screen, so that I don't have to resize, drag, etc every time?
