Basically I am wanting this for video encoding an I'm about 99% settled on this particular CPU.

But I want to make sure my computer can support it before I put the order through.

I will not be doing any overclocking, just swapping out the old, putting in the new.

Solution
The i7 3770k is meant for overclocking, so get the 3770 (non k version) and you will save yourself some money. You should also update your bios.

well i can't find what motherboard is in there but it is the same 1155 socket cpu so i'm guessing it would work without an issue. i'd upgrade the power supply just to be on the safe side anyway.and make sure to download the latest BIOS and install. i found the bios for that series of computer but however there were no bios notes. so yeah no clue as to what are in the bios update whether it is support for newer cpu or just fixes in general.

but yeah update bios
probably get a better power supply
and hope for best? if not return it?
