Hey everyone. I'm a soon to be pc builder, finally saved up enough money. I am going to build using a Gigabyte Z97X-SLI motherboard. Is there anything I should be worried about with ram compatibility? I'll be using 4gb of gskill sniper series ram. (1x4gb). I tried looking at the website, but it is a bit confusing. Anyone help?

(I wanted to get a good motherboard for upgrade options and overclocking, bc as of now, I'm not a hardcore gamer, mostly source games, dayz, etc.)

Solution
That 4gb of gskill sniper series ram are DDR3 which your Gigabyte Z97X-SLI motherboard uses-- they are more than fine.. well compatible. That motherboard is ok for overclocking; i wouldn't go for the Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor for over-clocking.. its better you get the Intel Core i3-4130 . Also, for gaming you need 8 GB RAM, not 4. So get two 4 GBs

ram is fine it runs at 1.5v so there shouldn't be any issue with XMP or anything like that. usually dual channel offers a performance boost. maybe this memory instead?

bout the same price. because even if in the future you wanted to add more memory you simply buy them in dual channel sets for compatiblity. you typically dont put 1 stick from one brand and 1 stick from another brand. back in the day it use to act real funky. so i wouldn't mix and match on principal. looks good other than that

See, I'm asking because an amazon review said this had bad ram compatibility. He put the same kit in an asus mobo and it worked perfectly. So hey, thanks for everything.
