ive been using ssd's for about 5yrs i think, and it's well worth it.
i now have 2 of them, and they are getting cheaper (relatively)
just put the OS there, and some of your favorite games or if you have some apps that needs the boost. just remember the space limitation.

my old ssd, an intel, boots like 13sec (after the beep). you don't need to buy the fastest out there, any decent ssd is a lot faster than mech drives. my old intel is even sata2 (new one is sata3).

a good choice would be samsung evo, or crucial mx100 (not sure of the model). get at least a 120gb, 240 if possible

yeah your system will seem really snappy and quick to respond it should be VERY noticeable differnece. a SSD as a boot drive is very well worth the cost, but i'd spring for at least a 256. and i personally like the Samsung 840 evo series

i honestly don't know, i have yet to read about them. it's worth the research if you ask me. i agree, if you can, buy a 240/256gb, don't worry about not being the fastest. you won't notice the difference between them on everyday use

you already have a 1tb mechanical harddrive. i may have said get a SSHD if you had neither a mechancial nor a SSD. to be quick a SSHD does not perform as fast as a normal SSD but it's conveniet to already have a SSD and HDD togehter. but you have a 1TB already i would just add the normal SSD as a boot drive and call it a day.
