i bought this card a couple months back. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

it didn't come with the adaptor. my grandma took a spill and broke her arm in two spots the other day plus my grandpa passed away last week. so my mom is going to be staying with her and i am going to be staying over there some so i can help out. i'll have down time and i will bring my gaming rig with me. the monitor i can use doesn't have an hdmi and my card doesn't have a vga slot. will just any dvi-vga adaptor work. seems like there are a couple different ones but i could be wrong. since i've had to take off so much work (had to drive down with the fam to mobile from denver for the service) the adaptor is cheaper but if a new dvi cable is worth it then fine. i won't be playing higher than 1080 res and i'll be helping out for the next few weeks. i need the distraction so my gaming rig will be very much my best friend.

Yes, a passive DVI to VGA adapter will work fine. Those things are a dime a dozen at any PC shop.
