Thank you upfront for any time that you may dedicate to this post.

I marked my external HDD active partition through disk management. After that, through the cmd prompt I made it inactive. Since then I cannot access my HDD even though my LED light comes on. Tried everything I could: different computers, different usb ports, re-installing the drivers, etc. But was not successful.

Brought it to a computer shop, told me the LED light comes on just to signal that electricity is actually arriving to the device but, that aside, the disk does not make any sound or tries to start at all and that the device cannot be accessed in any way and to throw it away. I have 160gb of data on it and I asked if there were absolutely no way around it. They suggested that (although they were not sure about it) maybe I could buy a used functioning HDD that is the same model and same year as mine, take it apart, and mount the board of the new one to my actual disk. In other words switch my board with another used functioning board. Do you think it's doable? Do you know any other way around it?

The model of my HDD is a western digital 2010ish P/D WDBAAA5000ABL.

Thank you
