I have always been confused by this problem. Apple doesn't support Blu-ray playback natively so I know I have to install some 3rd party software. Do I have any other choice if I don't wanna rip or convert?

More about : play blu ray disc mac

I'd say it would be a codec issue, so you can probably download blu-ray player software.

Done a bit of research, it's a problem with licensing the code from sony. Anyway there is a software you can D/L called macgo, although people seem to have varying success and it apparently needs an internet connection to even work. I'd try out the trial and see how it works for you, but otherwise you're going to be stuck with ripping or converting until the licensing issue is sorted. Apparently the codec requires quite a bit of processing power too.

That's very kind of you guys. I search this Macgo player you mentioned above and installed on my iMac. I guess I still have to get another Blu-ray drive. How about your trial?
